Overview
Lviv undergrounds are more than 700 years old and over 100 kilometers long.
The walls of the underground labyrinths remember the kings, monks, lovers, knights, ordinary citizens, hiding from wars, and rich Lviv people, burying their treasures underground.
Tombs, gold coins, antique furniture and weapons are still found there. They say that ghosts hang out in dark crypts.
Admire the main underground Lviv sights. Mysterious dungeons are waiting for you!

What to expect
Dominican Monastery
It is believed that the dungeons of the Dominican Monastery are the remains of the 13th century Prince Lev Castle.
Discover the monk cells and the torture hall; find out what torture methods Lviv people used in the Middle Ages and how they sought the witches.
Sts. Peter and Paul Church
The longest and most intricate Lviv dungeons are located under the Sts. Peter and Paul Church of the Jesuit Order. Some of them were once used as a crypt (burial place). Jesuit College was there too.
In the dungeons, you will see the archbishop’s sarcophagus. According to the legend, the lid of the sarcophagus was moved off from the inside…
Transfiguration Church
The dungeons are located under the Transfiguration Church which was built on the site of the 18th century Trinitarian church. Nowadays, they are the largest known Lviv undergrounds.
Opera House
There are not only dungeons but also an underground river under the famous Lviv Opera House! The building stands on the former riverbed of the Poltva River (since the late 19th century). Learn the construction history of the Opera House, and see the river still flowing under the city.
At the end of our tour, we invite you to have a cup of coffee at the Kopalnia Kavy (Coffee Mine) café. The most interesting thing is that in Lviv coffee beans are not harvested from the coffee trees: they are mined underground. How can it be? Find out on our tour!
